Kilmarnock target and former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty joins Norwegian side

Kyle Lafferty has joined Norwegian strugglers Sarpsborg 08 today.

The former Rangers and Hearts man was on Angelo Alessio's radar for a Rugby Park move, but he has opted to head to Norway.

Sarpsborg lie bottom of the Norwegian Eliteserien and have won two of their 19 games in the league this season, but Lafferty says he is raring to go.

He told the club's official website: "I'm here to score goals and work really hard for the team and the club that I've got a really good impression of.

"Despite the loss to Strømsgodset, I think it was a positive part.

"The team may not have played their best game, but there were opportunities for scoring there.

"I want to come up with something different and an experience I hope the team will enjoy."

After holding talks with Kilmarnock, Lafferty said: “I spoke to the manager and Massimo (Donati). I looked at it because the manager said a lot of positive things about how he wants Kilmarnock to be this season.

“He seems to know what he’s talking about, but unfortunately we couldn’t agree anything.

“I think he was looking at different things to what I was.

“But I wish them all the best.

“It’s a team that are very difficult to play against. We only won once against them last season when I was at Rangers and I’m sure they will be up fighting for the European places again this season."
