Kilmarnock supermarket announces teachers can get a discount on shopping

A Kilmarnock supermarket has revealed that teachers are eligible to receive a 10 per cent discount on their shopping.

School, nursery and college teachers can take advantage of the scheme that launched at Morrisons earlier this week for the rest of the year.

Bosses at the supermarket say that the discount has been introduced as "a special thank you for looking after the nation's children throughout the pandemic."

The initiative is open to all school employed staff for private nurseries, local authority nurseries, pre-schools, primary, secondary, private and special educational schools and further education colleges.

To claim the discount, teachers can show their nursery, school or college photo ID card at the till. Discount is not available online.

David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, said: "Teachers and school staff are facing many challenges and the education of our children has never been more important.

"This discount is our way of saying thank you as they continue to care for and educate our kids."

Morrisons have introduced the scheme in addition to their NHS workers' discount scheme.
