Kilmarnock stabbing victims' funeral fund doubles in 24 hours to £18,000 and is backed by comedian Gary Faulds

A Scots comedian has backed a fundraiser for the funerals of the mum and daughter stabbed to death in Kilmarnock - which has more than doubled in 24 hours raising nearly £18,000.

Emma Coupland, 39, was fatally knifed by estranged husband Steven Robertson, 40, on Thursday night. He then stabbed stepdaughter Nicole Anderson, 24, before dying in a car crash 12 miles away.

Now Glasgow funnyman Gary Faulds has urged people to donate to a GoFundMe page to pay for their funerals. The page was set up on Saturday quickly smashed its £1,000 target, raising £8000 by that evening.

The figure had soared to £17,940 by Sunday evening with more than 1200 donations.

Robertson’s brutal double killing has left Emma and Nicole’s family and friends “devastated and heartbroken” and leaves three girls without their mum or sister.

Gary shared the fundraiser on social media. He wrote: “Three young girls have been left without a mum and sister plus two funerals to pay for. If you would like to bless this family and take some of the financial burden off them, you can donate at the link below.

“Thinking about all my Kilmarnock people who have been effected by this incident.”

Nicole’s sister-in-law, set up the online fundraiser to help support the family.

Posting on the page, Allana wrote: “As you will all have read in the papers and the news we tragically lost Emma and Nicole over the weekend leaving three young girls without a mum and sister.

“This has also left the three girls to pay for not only one funeral but two.

“I have decided to set up a go fund me page to help try and ease the financial stress of worrying about paying for their funerals even if it’s just a pound each every little helps.

“Everyone is absolutely devastated and heartbroken over their deaths. They were the most funny loving bubbly people I have ever known and never had a day where they weren’t smiling.”
