Kilmarnock snap up Alex Bruce for second stint at Rugby Park

Kilmarnock have snapped up Alex Bruce on a year-long deal this afternoon.

The English defender has put pen to paper until the end of the season after being convinced to return to Rugby Park.

He is ineligible for Killie's Europa League clash with Connah's Quay Nomads.

He will take over the No4 shirt again as he did last season.

A club statement said: "Kilmarnock Football Club is pleased to announce the return of Alex Bruce on a one-year deal.

"The centre-back is back at Rugby Park following a successful six-month stint at the tail end of last season, but will not be eligible for tomorrow night’s Europa League clash with Connah’s Quay Nomads.

"The 34-year-old made five appearances as part of the squad that achieved a club record points total and secured third-place and European qualification.

"Having previously turned out for the likes of Birmingham City, Ipswich Town, Hull City and Wigan Athletic – he returns to add experience and talent to the squad.

"Alex will reclaim his number four shirt for the 2019/20 campaign.

"We’re delighted to welcome Alex back to Rugby Park, and everyone at the club wishes him every success for the coming season."
