Kilmarnock sign Danny Whitehall after impressing in Rugby Park trial

Danny Whitehall has put pen to paper at Kilmarnock this week.

The Kilmarnock Standard first revealed that he was on Alex Dyer’s radar last month – and he has now signed on an initial six-month deal.

The English striker joins after being non-league Maidenhead United’s top goalscorer last season. They are in the same division as Nicke Kabamba’s former side Hartlepool United.

He said: “I’m very excited to be joining a massive club in a top league and I can’t wait to get back to playing games and hopefully scoring goals.

“The past few weeks have been great and I’m really enjoying being back to the normality of a football environment and training day in, day out with a great bunch of lads.

“I’m aiming to contribute to the team as much as I can, score goals and push for a place in the starting 11 each week.”

● Meanwhile, Killie are still looking to add fresh faces to their ranks.

JJ Hooper, most recently at Wrexham, is on the club’s radar after scoring in a 3-2 win over Motherwell in a friendly at Fir Park.

Former Aberdeen goalkeeper Danny Rogers also featured in the first half alongside Brandon Haunstrup, who is on trial after rejecting a new deal at Portsmouth.
