A Kilmarnock sandwich shop is competing to be the best in the west.
Hogan’s on St Marnock Street is vying to scoop a top gong in the inaugural Scottish Takeaway Awards.
The Kilmarnock eaterie will go head-to-head with stores from Glasgow, Hamilton, Motherwell and Ayr to battle for the sandwich shop of the year in the south-west Scotland category.
Lynn Hogan, who owns the shop with her husband Mark, said: “What a great feeling to receive the recognition for our little shop in Kilmarnock.
“We are over the moon and looking forward to the awards night.
“We have great pride in the food and service we provide and hopefully this shows with the loyalty of our customers who keep coming back.
“When we first opened back in 2014 never did we think that we would be sitting here, being nominated for sandwich shop of the year in the south-west of Scotland.”
The black-tie event will take place on Tuesday at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
Irfan Younis of Creative Oceanic, who are hosting the event, said: “Takeaways have been around for a long time and are the very backbone of the local community and economy.
“The awards aim to provide a platform to those who have dedicated their career to providing us with delicious dishes across multiple cuisines in a timely manner and affordable prices.
“The competition is tough as there are some excellent professionals in the industry but each finalist has their own success story to tell.
