Kilmarnock safe standing section delayed as suppliers issue apology over late delivery

Kilmarnock have been forced to delay the opening of Rugby Park's new safe standing section.

The club hoped to complete the rail seating area ahead of Saturday's clash with Livingston but the grand unveiling has now been postponed.

The £40,000 project, funded by supporters through the Trust in Killie initiative, is set to add 324 rail seats to the East and Moffat Stands.

But a scheduled delivery was held up due to bad weather and has not arrived in time for tomorrow's Premiership encounter.

Kilmarnock insist they will provide a new opening date as soon as possible as they shared correspondence from their supplier.

It stated: "We received some unwelcome news from the haulier handing the shipment for us, the mother vessel that is carrying our container was late docking in to Rotterdam due to bad weather at sea.

“This meant that the container missed the feeder vessel which was due to dock in to Grangemouth and has been rolled over to the next feeder vessel.

“The feeder vessels only run on a weekly basis in to Grangemouth meaning the container is now running late.

“Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you.”
