Kilmarnock safe standing plans move closer as delayed rail seats finally arrive

Kilmarnock's plans to become the second Premiership club to introduce safe standing have taken a step forward.

The club had previously hoped to have it in place earlier in the campaign but a delay in rail seating arriving meant it needed to be held back.

But they've now confirmed the seats have arrived at Rugby Park and a suitable date for installation and testing is being sought.

The project is being funded by fans through Trust in Killie and will see 324 rail seats being placed in the East Stand as well as in the Moffat Stand.

Angelo Alessio's men take on Hamilton on Saturday in the final game before the international break with just two away games immediately after.

They then host St Johnstone on December 4 and could look to have safe standing in place by then.

Celtic are the only other Scottish side with the rail seating in place, with the Hoops putting it in place in 2016.

Kilmarnock are also planning on improved areas for wheelchair users with plans being submitted to the council for work to begin in 2020.
