Kilmarnock's clash with St Mirren goes ahead despite last-gasp pitch inspection

Kilmarnock's match with St Mirren will go ahead after their artificial surface has passed a pitch inspection.

The Ayrshire clubs' plastic pitch has stood up to the effects of freezing conditions and the game will take place as planned.

A midday pitch inspection was called two  days after the entire surface at Rugby Park was pictured covered in a thick layer of snow on Hogmanay.

The club worked hard to clear the pitch and that graft has paid off with the game given the green light.

It means the Jim Goodwin 's men have the opportunity to build on recent good form.

Kilmarnock will be delighted at having the opportunity to build on their midweek win over Motherwell.

Goals from Greg Kiltie and a Danny Whitehall penalty gave Alex Dyer 's men a crucial 2-0 victory after a poor run of form.
