Kilmarnock's Blair Alston eyes Falkirk cup victory in bid to bounce back from defeat

Blair Alston is desperate to get back on the pitch to bounce back from defeat.

Kilmarnock lost to Inverness in a top-of-the-table cinch Championship clash and now the Rugby Park midfielder is aiming to put things right against former side Falkirk in the SPFL Trust Trophy.

Alston says it was the manner of the defeat that was the most disappointing thing as Killie went down 1-0 to Caley Thistle.

He said: “Yeah, it was disappointing, it goes without saying we weren’t really at it.

“We weren’t good enough from the first whistle to the last, we just didn’t cause them enough problems and let them cause us too many.

“It was a good start until that game, it was a disappointment but we need to get ourselves back together and go again.

“Any game you lose is disappointing, I think it’s more the way we went about it is the most disappointing thing.

“We are a much better team than we showed and there was too many individuals, myself probably more than anyone.

“But it’s early days, we have played four games, nothing was won or lost apart from a bit of form.

“We will regroup, we will put it right next time hopefully.

“I think we knew what they were going to be like, they scored the early goal and we didn’t get going at all.

“Unfortunately you get games like that, you can’t put your finger on exactly what went wrong."

On the forthcoming clash with Falkirk, Alston, 29, added: “I think the best thing about football is that games come around thick and fast, we need to learn from what we did wrong and there’s a good game to try and put it right.

“I think sometimes cup football can be good for a bit of a distraction to be honest but for us it’s all about playing games as quickly as possible.

“The changing room is pretty down about the Inverness result, so we can’t wait to go again and hopefully get a positive result.

“I played against Falkirk when I was at St Johnstone. It’s strange playing against your old club but I’ll be doing all I can to win the game."
