Kilmarnock rush hour rail services cancelled after person is hit by a train

Trains to Kilmarnock have been cancelled after a person was struck by a train earlier this afternoon.

ScotRail confirmed that the incident took place earlier this afternoon between Barrhead and Kennishead.

A staement from the rail firm reads: "Unfortunately we have had reports of a person being struck by a train between Barrhead and Kennishead, because of this services will be disrupted.

"We are working closely with emergency services and will update you once we receive more information from our staff on the ground.

"To keep you moving we have ticket acceptance in place with the following local bus suppliers; passengers for Barrhead may wish to use Neilston services as we have ticket acceptance in place with McGills buses between Neilston and Barrhead.

"McGills: Between Glasgow, Barrhead and Neilston.

"Stagecoach West: Customers from Kilmarnock can use Stagecoach West buses to Glasgow in this direction only.

"Just show your valid ticket or Smart card to the driver when boarding the bus."
