Ambitious plans to transform Kilmarnock Rugby Football Club are a step closer to being realised.
The Kilmarnock Standard revealed last month that members of the club had launched a bid to build new changing rooms.
The £400,000 blueprint for Bellsland was backed by the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU), Sportscotland and East Ayrshire Council.
Officials at the club needed to raise £40,000 for the project – and revealed this week they are almost halfway there.

KRFC celebrated their 150th anniversary last year and in a bid to generate £22,500, are offering 150 people the chance to donate £150 and have their name – or another name – on a history board in the new facility.
Past president Paul Guthrie told the Kilmarnock Standard: “We have now raised, between cashing pledges, over £16,000 which is almost halfway to the target of £40,000.
“This has been raised primarily from our membership and extended rugby family with many personal donations greater than the £150 asked for in the 150 for 150 campaign.
“In fact, we have only had 50 such donations and, therefore, still have 100 spaces available for any further donations.

“We also are still looking for local companies to donate and receive recognition through naming one or more fo the four new changing rooms as well as the two newly-refurbished changing in the old changing block.”
Businesses can also contribute £5000 to have one of the four new changing rooms named after the firm as well.
