Kilmarnock Reserves 4 Partick Reserves 0 as Steven Warnock steals the show in Reserve Cup opener

Steven Warnock stole the show as his hat-trick helped Kilmarnock on their way to a cup rout.

The Ayrshire side defeated Partick Thistle 4-0 in the Reserve Cup group stage opener, and Warnock's treble was complimented by a Bobby Wales strike.

The Killie lineup was littered with first-team players including the likes of Calum Waters, Dylan McGowan, Deji Sotona, Blair Alston, Jordan Jones and Kerr McInroy.

Sotona didn't last long though as he hobbled off after just eight minutes with an injury, he was replaced by Kian Leslie.

Aforementioned Leslie went close in the 17th minute when he cut inside, but his low effort whizzed past the post.

A Jon Craig slip allowed Anthony Weston through on goal, Gary Woods saved that effort before it fell to Ben Stanway who smashed the post, much to Killie's relief.

Killie took the lead thanks to Warnock who finished well just before half time.

Scotland Under-18s international Wales replace Jordan Jones on the hour mark and he was quick to fire a shot away on the turn, but his effort flew wildly over.

McInroy tried his luck in the 74th minute from a free-kick, but his 25 yard chance went narrowly over the crossbar.

Warnock then doubled his money in the 74th minute as his mazy run led to a fine curling finish into the corner.

Wales grabbed a goal in the 84th minute as he turned an effort home from a tight angle after Mason McCready palmed a ball into his path.

Warnock was then denied his hat-trick as he fired an effort against the crossbar.

But he did bag the match ball with two minutes to go after a nifty finish into the corner.
