Kilmarnock pub hit by alleged conman after money is 'fraudulently' obtained from boozer

An alleged conman made off with cash from a Kilmarnock town centre pub this week.

It's claimed that the fraudster posed as a cash and carry worker called "Jim" before stealing money from Mack's Bar on Grange Street.

And now pub owners are appealing for any information on the man who they captured on CCTV.

They posted on the pub's Facebook: "Hello lovely customers. Unfortunately we were the victim of a very convincing conman.

"Please have a look at the video stills of the man in the grey hoodie - tall, slim and close cropped greying hair.

"He presented himself as someone else at 2.33pm on Tuesday and fraudulently obtained money. He posed as someone from the cash and carry called Jim.

"This has been reported to the police and hopefully they can track him down before another small business suffers a loss.

"If you have any information on his identity can you please let Mary know or contact the police with the information.

"Please everyone stay safe. He was very convincing and has obviously conned people before, possibly not just businesses."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of theft from a premises on Grange Street in Kilmarnock around 4.10pm on Tuesday, August 31.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
