Kilmarnock prisoner has jail time increased after shouting vile racist abuse at cell mate

A man who shouted vile racist abuse at a cell mate in Kilmarnock prison has had his jail time increased.

Graham Elrick appeared in the dock at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court where he pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner in February.

Elrick, a prisoner at Kilmarnock, shouted abuse at a fellow cell mate.

The prosecutor told the court how Elrick, 32, shouted, “Get it f*****g up you, you black b*****d” and “monkeys have bald heads and are black”.

Elrick’s lawyer described his client’s record as “unenviable” and explained that he is currently serving the end of a sentence imposed in November 2017.

Sheriff Michael Hanlon sentenced Elrick to 21 weeks in prison.
