A Kilmarnock primary has been closed down over rising coronavirus cases connected to the school.
St Andrew's Primary has been shut down until at least Monday, June 7, education and health bosses confirmed yesterday.
It's understood that kids in six classes have been asked to self-isolate and every household of each child must also self-isolate too.
A joint letter to parents from Mrs Lynne McNiven Director of Public Health and Linda McAulay-Griffiths, East Ayrshire's head of education told parents: "NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Health Protection Team is conducting a contact tracing exercise in relation to a number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection connected to St Andrew’s Primary School.
"Following careful consideration of all available information and in conjunction with East Ayrshire Council, we have agreed a temporary closure of the school until at least Monday, June 7.
"Contact will be made with parents and carers to confirm when the school will reopen.
"The school will contact parents and carers to confirm remote learning arrangements.
"Please note, the closure applies to the Primary School ONLY, and the Early Childhood Centre will remain open as usual."
The letter goes on: "Given the developing situation, there will now be a change to the information you may already have received about self-isolation.
"If your child is in any of the following classes: P6c, P5a, P4a, P4b, P3s, or P1s, and has already been asked to self-isolate as a contact, the whole household must now self isolate.
"There will be no change to end of isolation dates already given.
"If you are not contacted by our Test and Protect Team, this means that your child has not been identified as a close contact and therefore is not required to have a test or self-isolate."
