Kilmarnock police spark manhunt after shop targeted by arsonist

Police are appealing for information after a premises on Glasgow Road in Kilmarnock was deliberately set alight in the early hours of this morning.

At around 1.15am, emergency services were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished.

It is understood that Domino's is the property that was targeted.

There were no injuries reported and no damage to surrounding properties.

Following a review of CCTV, police are keen to speak to a man seen nearby.

He is described as around 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and in his early 20s. He was wearing black jogging bottoms, a black body warmer with a long sleeved white top and a black beanie-style hat.

Detective Constable Steven Grey of Kilmarnock CID said: “We are appealing to members of the public who may have any information relating to this deliberate fire to get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the man described and anyone else who may have been in the area to get in touch with officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0302 of 10 April.

Earlier this week the Kilmarnock Standard reported that a fire started at a hairdressing salon on Tourhill Road.
