Kilmarnock on-loan star Iain Wilson inspires Queen of the South to relegation play-off victory

Kilmarnock's on-loan Queen of the South midfielder helped the Doonhamers to a vital win in the Championship relegation play-offs.

The Dumfries side, who are now managed by former Killie boss Allan Johnston, put Raith Rovers to the sword with a 3-1 win in Kirkcaldy.

And Wilson was huge for Queens as he assisted Lyndon Dykes' opener, and was involved in the build-up for Connor Murray's goal.

In the 17th minute, Wilson fired a pass into the path of Dykes, who curled it home with the outside of his boot across Dean Lyness' goal.

Kilmarnock chief Billy Bowie set to hold talks with 'unsettled' Steve Clarke over Kilmarnock future

And the Killie midfielder helped spark the attack for the second just five minutes later.

Euan Murray put the ball in his own net to make it 3-0 in the second-half.

Queens looked home and dry and Stark's Park, but David McKay pulled a goal back with four minutes left to keep the tie alive heading into the second-leg at Palmerston on Saturday.
