Kilmarnock man threatened to blow head off ex-partner's new boyfriend

A Kilmarnock man has been warned to stay out of trouble after an outburst fuelled by anger and alcohol.

Steven Fraser, of Burnfoot Place, admitted making threats of violence towards his former partner and a man on February 22 at St Andrew’s Hostel and Shortlees Crescent.

Prosecuting, Asif Hussan told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court that Fraser’s ex-partner was at home with a man when she received a phone call from an unknown number.

She answered the phone, put it on loudspeaker and was able to identify Fraser’s voice.

The 46-year-old stated down the phone that he would “blow his head off”.

Threatened and scared by this, the couple contacted the police.

Fraser was traced and claimed he said he would “blow her away” as a joke.

He was arrested, cautioned and charged and made no response.

Fraser’s agent said his client and his ex-partner had been in a 10-year relationship and have three children.

He explained that Fraser’s ex was with a new partner and as a result of this his contact with the children had stopped.

Fraser believed that the new partner had a “difficulty with illicit substances” and he was not happy that the man was around his children.

He added that Fraser drank too much that day and his behaviour was “fuelled by anger and alcohol”.

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane deferred sentence for three months for Fraser to show good behaviour.

He will return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court for sentencing on June 25.
