Kilmarnock man sentenced after threatening to kill partner

A Kilmarnock man found guilty of assaulting and threatening to kill his former partner has returned to the dock to learn his fate.

Kyle Brown appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court where he was issued a community payback order as an alternative to custody.

The 22-year-old denied any wrongdoing but was found guilty of assault towards his ex-partner and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Brown, of MacBeth Drive in New Farm Loch, presented a bar stool at the woman, pushed her and caused her head to hit the wall, seized hold of her hair, bit her on the body, threw a mirror at her and poured liquid over her.

He then placed his hands around her neck and threatened to kill her.

Brown shouted, swore and made threats before smashing a glass by throwing it against the wall. He also broke items of crockery and glass.

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane ordered Brown to complete 250 hours of unpaid work within six months and was placed under supervision for a year.

A non-harassment order forbidding Brown to contact or approach the woman was also granted for two years.
