Kilmarnock man jailed after brutally assaulting his former partner

A Kilmarnock man who brutally assaulted his former partner has been jailed.

Scott Bryce appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court where he pleaded guilty to assault, perverting the course of justice and behaving in an abusive manner.

The 35-year-old admitted to a range of abusive behaviour between April 1 and April 4 at two addresses in Kilmarnock.

Bryce, formerly of Wallacehill Road, engaged in abuse towards his partner by pushing her on the body, causing her to fall to the ground, repeatedly calling her abusive names, seizing her by her clothing and spinning her around causing her to fall.

He also took her house keys and entered her property and repeatedly asked her whether she had reported his behaviour to police officers.

Bryce then seized her by the body and threw her onto the bed, then demanded that she remain sitting on the bed while he left the property.

On a second charge, Bryce also admitted to attempting to pervert the course of justice on April 3 by climbing out of a window and hiding in the garden of a Kilmarnock address in order to avoid questioning by police in connection with his behaviour towards his ex-partner.

Bryce also pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Crosshouse Hospital and Kilmarnock police station on April 3 by shouting, swearing, throwing items and acting in an aggressive manner.

Sheriff Alastair Watson handed Bryce a term of eight months in prison when sentencing.
