A Kilmarnock man has been sent to jail after admitting to theft and drug offences.

Brian McKenna appeared in the dock at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and pled guilty to stealing a mobile phone and its sim card after breaking into a house on Morven Avenue, Kilmarnock, on April 17.

McKenna, 43, also pled guilty to being in possession of the drugs Oxycodene and Etizolam when he was later found on Auchencar Drive in the town.

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane sentenced McKenna, who appeared from custody, to a total of 12 months in prison.
