Kilmarnock man held former partner at knifepoint in terrifying attack

A Kilmarnock man has been jailed following a terrifying attack on a woman at knifepoint.

Terence McLean appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court where he pleaded guilty to an assault on his former partner on September 21 last year.

The offence, which took place at an address in Kilmarnock, involved 29-year-old McLean holding a knife to the woman’s neck and punching her on the body causing her injury.

The case was due to go to trial before a jury on Monday but McLean admitted the offence before proceedings got underway.

He also pleaded not guilty to a further two charges which was accepted by the prosecutor.

Sheriff Alastair Watson sentenced McLean, of Ardgour Road, Kilmarnock, to 13 months in prison.
