Kilmarnock man died in crash after ex and her daughter were killed during night of horror

A Kilmarnock man who died in a car crash last night has been named locally as Steven Robertson.

The 40-year-old died after a car he was driving crashed on the C50, a road between the B7036 and the A76, at around 8.30pm last night.

Robertson is understood to be the ex of Emma Robertson Coupland who died after being attacked at Crosshouse Hospital last night at around 7.45pm.

Emma's 24-year-old daughter, Nicole Anderson, died after being stabbed 20 minutes later in the town's Portland Street.

The Daily Record are reporting that Robertson was responsible for the deaths of both Emma and Nicole.

Police have already said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incidents.

Medics then raced to the minor Ayrshire road but Robertson, the sole driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tributes have been paid to Emma and Nicole throughout the day as people throughout the area come to terms with what happened.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Deputy First Minister John Swinney are among those to have reacted to last night's events with local MSP Willie Coffey saying the town of Kilmarnock was in "shock".
