Kilmarnock January transfer window plans outlined as boss Derek McInnes eyes new recruits

Kilmarnock’s January transfer window plans have been outlined as boss Derek McInnes looks ahead to a big month for the club.

New recruits are being targeted with the Rugby Park outfit getting in shape for the second half of the Premiership season.

Boss McInnes would not be drawn on how many fresh faces he would like to bring in.

However, he feels Killie are in a good place to do business with top talent on the market and players returning from long-term injuries being treated as new signings.

Speaking after Friday night's dramatic 2-2 draw at Motherwell, the manager said: “We acknowledge we’ve got to improve and January is going to be a big month for us.

“But what we also acknowledge is we have players who will give everything.

“I don’t want to put a figure on it [number of players club wants to sign]. We have areas where I think we could get players to help us and give us different threats.

“Getting Ben Chrisene back feels like we have a left-back back again. He was out for a couple of months.

“We’ve got wee Robbo [Scott Robinson] that feels like another signing – as if the window opened a wee bit early. He’s a centre forward we’ve been desperate to work with anyway.

“It will be dictated by results and circumstances. We’ve picked up a couple of injuries.

“Innes Cameron has a bad one and Jeriel Dorsett has a bad one so that will maybe be a factor. But even without that, there are still areas we would like to add to.

“I think we’re better prepared going into this window. The January window is always tough to get what you want but you can still sign good players. Hopefully we will be in a position to do that.”
