Kilmarnock goalkeeper Colin Doyle hopes Hearts KO means Ayrshire side won't slack in Scottish Cup match

Colin Doyle reckons after his parent club Hearts were embarrassed in in the Scottish Cup means that Kilmarnock won’t take the eye off the ball at Stenhousemuir.

The on-loan keeper has reached Hampden twice with Jambos, but is wary of today’s trip to Ochilview after seeing his Tynecastle pals defeated by Brora Rangers.

Doyle said: “You can’t just turn up and expect to win matches. You only have to look at the Hearts result last week against Brora.

“I was at Birmingham when we went 2-0 down to Blyth in the first half before coming back to win 3-2. That’s probably been the closest to a shock I have been involved in.

“We have got to be professional. We have to go there and work as hard as them. So long as we do that, hopefully our quality will shine through and we’ll get a result.

“We know what to expect from them. We have watched videos of them and we have done our homework.

“It was good we got the win over Motherwell and it has given us a bit of confidence. If we can win this, that will be two in a row and we can go back to the league stuff for a while and concentrate on that.

“It’s crazy, you only need five wins and then you’ve got the cup. I was at Hearts and in the first two years we got to two cup finals.

“We’d love to get far into the competition but that’s a long way away. We just need to concentrate on this game, try and win it and see how far we can go.”
