Kilmarnock families to honour loved ones lost to suicide this weekend

Kilmarnock families will honour loved ones lost to suicide at a special memorial event this weekend.

Lost Too Soon is the first in what's anticipated to be an annual event aiming to celebrate the lives of those lost while bringing some comfort to grieving families.

Taking place at Holy Trinity Church at 3pm on Sunday the non-religious event will host speakers who can signpost guests to any help they require.

Pauline Moriarty will speak about her charity, Beautiful Inside and Out, reaches out and helps young people grappling with mental health issues.

Mary McClung, who works for the Kris Boyd Foundation, will also speak of her counselling work and experiences.

Organisers say there will be an opportunity to have a confidential entry of a loved one's name written into a memorial book arranged specially for the event.

Guests are able to visit the church at a suitable time to access the book.

Rev Mary Jepp, formerly of Holy Trinity, walked the West Highland Way in 2020, raising sponsorship money to purchase and donate a memorial book for the church.

It was to be seen as a book of comfort for families and friends of those who had taken their own lives with the ultimate intention of the names entered into the book being a lasting place of remembrance.

Lost Too Soon takes place this Sunday, November 20 at Holy Trinity Church on Portland Road at 3pm.
