Kilmarnock drawn against Connah's Quay Nomads in Europa League first round qualifier

Kilmarnock have been drawn against Connah's Quay Nomads in their Europa League first round qualifier.

Angelo Alessio's team will face the Welsh Premier League side, after the draw took place today in Nyon, Switzerland on Tuesday.

Killie are scheduled to be at away for the first leg, to be played on Thursday, July 11.

The list of possible opponents was small for this round of the qualifiers, with the Rugby Park outfit only facing one of six possible sides.

Kilmarnock are unranked in the European coefficient before this campaign kicks off, because they have not been competing in Europe over the last five seasons.

Kilmarnock appoint Angelo Alessio (Kilmarnock FC)

For the Scottish Premiership side, its the first time in 18 years they have found themselves preparing for a shot at Europe.

Alessio was only appointed as Kilmarnock's new manager several days ago, after Steve Clarke took up the reigns as the Scotland national team boss after a fantastic campaign last year.

The second leg is pencilled in to be played on Thursday, July 18.

The Europa League final will be held at Stadion Energa Gdańsk on 27 May 2020.
