Kilmarnock chip shop reveals new deep-fried food - and it’s ‘surprisingly good’

Everyone has their favourite when it comes to a chip shop order.

Whether you’re keeping it classic with a fish supper or playing it authentically Scottish with a pizza crunch; people can be very particular about their order.

One of Kilmarnock’s best loved chippies has started frying an unusual item for customers recently.

Usually considered as a bit of an afterthought to some or the cherry on top of a delicious deep-fried dinner; the pickled onion is a very underrated delicacy.

The Plaice to Be has revealed that they’ve been deep frying the side-dish for some Ayrshire foodies.

It seems the fascination with deep-frying any edible food item has continued.

A deep-fried Mars bar is perhaps the most famous gut-busting treat to undergo a Scottish food makeover, with items like a Christmas dinner being given the treatment too in recent years by chippies across the country.

But the Stoneyhill Avenue takeaway’s latest addition may be one of the most obvious additions to their menu because it’s already sitting on the counter!
