Kilmarnock charity host awareness event in honour of International Men's Day

A Kilmarnock charity has backed a drive to support male survivors of sexual abuse in honour of International Men's Day.

Break the Silence held an event in partnership with Celebrate Kilmarnock in support of the One Blue String Campaign which aims to raise awareness of the one in six males affected by unwanted sexual violence and abuse.

The event was opened by Depute Provost Claire Leitch and included performances for local musicians who played guitars fitted with a single blue string in honour of the campaign.

During the event, Break The Silence were presented with a cheque from Rock 'n' Role Models for £200 which was raised through 'Buskstops' during this summer's K-Fest.

The money was raised from the music festival's  Busk Stop sessions.

The One Blue String campaign encourages musicians to add a blue string to their guitar or use a blue plectrum to support the cause.
