Kilmarnock businesses left without running water after town centre flooding

Kilmarnock businesses have been left without running water this morning.

It comes after a water main burst last night in the town centre.

Water was spraying into the air from several places for a number of hours.

It's understood that a number of businesses surrounding King Street have been left with no water.

Scottish Water engineers are now on the scene trying to sort the issue.

One town centre worker said: "I came in to my work just after 8am this morning.

"I went to the bathroom and when I went to wash my hands, there was no water coming out of the taps. I had to use hand sanitiser instead.

"It's a wee bit worrying not having access to running water when we're being told to wash our hands all the time to avoid this coronavirus."

Scottish Water has been approached for comment.
