Tommy Wright reckons Brandon Haunstrup's goal could be pivotal come Monday night.
Kilmarnock lost 2-1 in their first leg of their Premiership play-off final away to Dundee but had looked down and out until Haunstrup stepped up to bag his first goal for the Ayrshire side.
Goals from Jordan McGhee and Charlie Adam had given the Dark Blues a 2-0 advantage.
Killie's 28-year top-flight status is in real jeopardy but Wright feels their goal could prove to be the turning point in the tie with the second leg at Rugby Park on Monday evening.
Boss Wright said: "They used the conditions better than us and they controlled the game well.
"They will be disappointed they conceded but they'll still feel as if they're in the driving seat.
"But it was a massive goal for us and it puts us right back into the tie."
Wright added: "We've committed really bad errors, for the second we should stop the ball and the first goal we didn't track the run.
"I don't want to take anything away from Dundee, but I'm only looking at my own team's performance.
"We know it wasn't good enough, we are all disappointed.
"But I am just so pleased we are back in it; it makes things a bit easier on Monday but it will still be difficult, they are probably still favourites.
"The quality has to be better on Monday, but we showed character to get back into it.
"People have questioned our character, but I am hoping that's going to be a big turning point in the tie."
