Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke named PFA Scotland Manager of the Year

Steve Clarke has scooped the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year award after guiding Kilmarnock to the brink of Europe.

The 55-year-old, among the favourites to replace Alex McLeish as Scotland boss after his sterling work at Rugby Park, has come out on top of a vote among his peers.

Clarke was the only Premiership boss to make the shortlist after a campaign in which managers in the lower leagues were recognised.

Arbroath's Dick Campbell, Alloa boss Jim Goodwin and Ross County duo Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson earned a joint nomination.

But it's Clarke who takes the award after another brilliant season with Killie who sit in third place with just two games to go in the season.

Killie have gone from strength to strength under Clarke and racked up more points than any other Premiership side in 2018.

They topped the table early in the season and the brand of football on show has seen supporters flooding back to Rugby Park.

Clarke was honoured at the Annual Awards Dinner at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.

Jack Ross scooped the top prize in 2018 as he led St Mirren to the Championship title before departing for Sunderland.
