Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio insists side have been working hard in training ahead of Highland clash

Angelo Alessio says his side have been working hard this week to recover from their loss at Livingston.

Kilmarnock were put to the sword in a 3-0 defeat against former Rugby Park star Gary Holt's side.

But now he insists his side are working to shake the loss off as they prepare for a long jaunt to the Highlands as they battle with Ross County.

It was a dull 0-0 draw at Rugby Park when the sides met earlier this season, with Osman Sow missing a penalty for Killie.

Alessio remains confident ahead of the game.

He said: “It was difficult because of a bad result and a bad performance. It’s important now to understand that we need a reaction.

“We are working well to prepare for the next game.

“We have changed little things in training because it’s important to work at other situations.

"Sometimes it’s things you see in the game. Sometimes it’s about creating opportunities to score.”

He added: “Every game is difficult. Ross County won last week and they will be more confident now.

“This is a big challenge for us now but at the same time I want to see our progress. It’s a tough game and I want to see my team respond.

“They have some good players, Ross Stewart is tall and strong and scored a lot of goals. But they have other players who make them a good team.

“At the moment my focus is our team. We have to understand our dimension. We have to work harder.”

When asked if he will make wholesale changes to the team Alessio simply replied: “I don’t think so."

He added: "It’s difficult to change a lot after a bad result. That’s too simple to say ‘okay we will change five or six players’. That’s not good.

“I want to reflect on some positions on the pitch and some players. I have two days to decide.

“Our skills are to fight and battle and not be easy to beat. It’s important to understand our dimension, we have to work hard in training every day and in every game.

“We have to give more. We need more desire. The commitment is good but the performances in general have not been so we have to give more.”

Stuart Findlay (hamstring) should be the only absentee for Kilmarnock tomorrow.
