Kilmarnock and Rangers wins show Hamilton Accies have nothing to fear in survival fight claims striker Marios Ogkmpoe

Striker Marios Ogkmpoe believes Hamilton Accies have nothing to fear in the relegation scrap.

Accies have climbed out of the relegation zone thanks to back-to-back wins against Rangers and Kilmarnock in the past week.

Greek forward Ogkmpoe scored the winning penalty in the last-minute against the Ayrshire outfit last weekend, and insists that if they keep up that level of performance they can secure top flight safety once again

“It’s a very important win, but there are still eight more games left,” said the 25-year-old.

“We still have to win plenty more games as well.

“If we continue playing with this intensity and high tempo we are confident that we can stay up.

“We were last and now we are tenth. Unfortunately, we do have the experience of being in this position.

“Now we are tenth, and if we just continue on playing this there is nothing to be scared of.”

As the New Douglas Park outfit gear up to face a key run in before the Premiership split, Ogkmpoe has admitted the big result at Ibrox and the follow-up win means nothing if they don’t stay up.

Ahead of their visit to Dingwall to face Ross County, he said: “At the end of the day it’s three points.

“If we lose the next three it’s like we haven’t done anything.”

Boss Brian Rice also heaped praise on the fighting spirit of his side as they prepare for another key clash in the Highlands.

The gaffer reckons that if they produce the battling qualities seen last week they can avoid dropping to the Championship.

He went on: “Two clean sheets in a week is a sign of a team working hard as a unit.

“The players were phenomenal again and the spirit not to lose of magnificent.

“All season we have been battered by all different things and we ask a lot of them, but I told them if they keep doing the right things it will turn.

“They have trained properly and played properly.”
