Kilmarnock 1 Dundee United 1 as Ayrshire side end run of eight consecutive defeats with draw

Kilmarnock stopped a run of eight straight defeats by securing a draw against Dundee United.

Adrian Sporle fired the Arabs ahead in the first half before Zech Medley equalised for the Ayrshire side.

Ross County lost away to St Mirren which means Killie are now just a point behind the Highland side in the Prmiership table, with the sides meeting next week in a huge clash.

There were no real chances until the 17th minute when Kyle Lafferty’s curling effort from 25 yards smashed the bar.

But just a minute later the visitors fired themselves into the lead.

Sporle saw his shot deflected past Colin Doyle in a huge blow for Killie.

Just after the half-hour mark, Benjamin Siegrist was called into action when Lafferty smashed a free-kick towards goal from 30 yards, and he then kept out the rebounded effort from Mitch Pinnock.

On-loan Arsenal defender Medley had a great chance to equalise in the 50th minute but his volley was well saved by Siegrist.

But just after the hour mark, Medley did grab his goal when he smashed it home after latching on to a loose ball from a corner.

In the 72nd minute, Lafferty had the ball in the net but the goal was chopped off for an apparent foul on Siegrist.

Five minutes later, Lawrence Shankland took an incredible touch to get himself through on goal, but his poor shot was easily saved by Doyle.

Marc McNulty should have scored in the 87th minute when he fired a shot from less than 10 yards towards goal but Doyle saved well.
