Killingworth office block set for facelift with 'sculptural entrance'

A Killingworth office block is set to be given a facelift if the authority's planning department approve the plans.

North Tyneside Council has revealed plans to regenerate block A of the Harvey Combe Industrial Estate.

The council wants to refurbish the interior of the building, inserting a raised floor and fitting a new lift at the main entrance "to provide full accessibility and to reinstate the original reception area".

The building, which is described in a design and access statement as having a "sculptural entrance", was most recently used for offices and this won't change.

The scheme for the Station Road building includes reinstating the original bridge entrance into a refurbished reception area at first floor level.

Original features such as Granwood flooring, some doors and parts of the toilets will be retained where possible.

North Tyneside Council's planning department are expected to decide whether to grant permission for the scheme by mid August.
