Killing Eve star Jodie Comer pays tearful tribute to her nan during BAFTAs win

Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer paid an emotional tribute to her grandmother at the BAFTA TV Awards after she died during the first week of the show’s filming.

The 26-year-old star, who plays Villanelle in the crime thriller, tearfully accepted her award for Best Leading Actress.

Dedicating her win to her late nan, she said: I’m so sorry. I’m the only one who turned on the waterworks.

“My nana Frances never got to see Villanelle.

“But she was the life and soul of everything. When she was here she used to say, ‘You get it off me, you know’.”

The award was Jodie’s first BAFTA win, having previously been nominated two years ago in the same category for BBC crime drama “Thirteen”.

Earlier in the evening, Jodie confessed she was still finding the success of the show surreal.

She said: “I’m still pinching myself but it’s been an incredible year and that’s why I’m so glad to be here and just celebrate with everyone. It’s really special.”

Killing Eve also scooped the BAFTA for Best Drama Series at last night’s awards, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Fiona Shaw.
