Killing Eve star Jodie Comer got killer's bloodthirsty expressions 'from mum'

When deadly assassin Villanelle gives her victims a strange look it may be one actress Jodie Comer has copied from her mum.

Jodie reckons playing the psychopath in Killing Eve has made her realise how expressive her face can be.

The 27-year-old Liverpudlian, who still lives with parents Jimmy and Donna, found inspiration at home.

She said: “Some of the faces I pull are outrageous but my mum is like, ‘Definitely seen that one before.’

“But I am also like, ‘Mum, I get half of them from you’.”

But the actress playing the killer in season three of the BBC series does admit to a softer side.

After a scene she often apologises to the actors she kills because she is afraid she has hurt them.

She said: “I try to be as careful as I can. That is always so tense when you go to the scene and say, ‘I am sorry is this sore? Am I hurting you?’

“The funniest one was in season one when Villanelle clamps a guy’s private parts.

"When we came to that we all had a giggle about it.

“There are a lot of absurd moments on set.

"Of course they are so high energy but they are really fun.”

Jodie, who won a 2018 Emmy for the role, stars in the black comedy thriller alongside Sandra Oh, Fiona Shaw and Harriet Walter.

She has made the move to Hollywood films and is in Free Guy, alongside Ryan Reynolds, due out in July.

Jodie, who found fame after appearing in Doctor Foster with Suranne Jones, is in the middle of filming period drama The Last Duel, which also stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and is directed by Ridley Scott.

She said she can’t wait to get back to shooting it.
