Killing Eve season 4 production 'postponed amid coronavirus concerns'

Killing Eve season four production has reportedly been postponed over concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

Although Eve and Villanelle appeared to go their separate ways at the end of season three, it seems the story is not over just yet.

However, fans will have to wait a little longer to learn what their favourite characters have been getting up to in the hit spy drama.

According to Deadline, the production company Sid Gentle Films was due to start filming a new season later this year.

The upcoming plans have since been hampered over complications regarding the show's extensive and varied use of international destinations.

"Due to the uncertainty of the world as a result of Covid-19, no shooting schedules for Killing Eve season four have been locked in at this point and there are various scenarios in play.”

Although producers have kept quiet about any upcoming plans, the report goes on to explain that the largest hurdle the show faces is the use of various European destinations.

A representative for the BBC has been contacted by MirrorOnline for comment.

Fans of the hit BBC show went wild for the season 3 finale after Eve and Villanelle's game of cat and mouse came to a head with a tense moment on London's Tower Bridge.

At the end of the scene, Villanelle urges Eve to walk away and never look back.

The pair head in opposite directions before - in true romcom style - the pair look back and change their minds.

While uncertainty surrounding a comeback date for the popular show remains, many other television productions have began to resume filming after lockdown measures were lifted.

Will Eve and Villanelle finally spark a romance? (BBC)

Although the entertainment industry has faced abundance of hurdles and meandered safety precautions and isolation measures, several popular soaps such as EastEnders and Coronation Street have already made a comeback - albeit their film sets are far less international.

According to Deadline's sources, fans will have to wait a little longer to learn whether Villanelle actually does give up her assassin lifestyle or forges a romance with Eve.
