Killing Eve season 2 UK date finally revealed by BBC with intriguing tweet

Finally the wait is over for Villanelle fans after the BBC has revealed the UK release date of the second series of Killing Eve.

Viewers overseas in the US had first dibs on season 2, which aired on BBC America last month.

Following a shocking ending to series one last December, fans will be relieved to hear that it's now our turn to see where Villanelle and Eve are at with season 2 making a big return to our screens very soon.

BBC One tweeted the announcement confirming the premiere date of season 2 for Saturday June 8, with a primetime slot of 9.15pm.

"Sometimes when you love someone, you will do crazy things," says Jodie Comer in her intriguing Russian accent in her leading role as Villanelle.

Co-written by Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the drama has since won an accolade of BAFTAs including Best Drama Series, Bets Original Music, Best Sound: Fiction, while Jodie also walked away with the Leading Actress award.

Jodie recently admitted she initially struggled to manage the different tones of the show - switching from intense dark drama to humour.

She said: "Phoebe really helped me with that in the first season. During filming she would ask me to play a scene in the opposite way to how I'd initially read it. She made me realise that when you dare to do something that is a little absurd, or out of your comfort zone, you can make magic."

Sandra Oh, who plays MI6 agent Eve Polastri, added: "The tone of Killing Eve is very tricky and it's hard to describe. It's also hard to write, hard to perform and hard to nail down.

"We understand what a drama, thriller or comedy genre is but Killing Eve is a real mash of all those three. This cast is phenomenal because everyone is grounding their performance in their own truth."

If you haven't had chance to see the first series, then now's your chance to get in on the action. Or you can watch all of season 1 on boxset on BBC iPlayer to catch up.

There's also been hints from the cast at a season 3 so thankfully this upcoming season might not be the last we'll see of Killing Eve.
