Killing Eve series 2: BBC releases first look at Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer after major cliffhanger

With the return of Killing Eve a matter of months away, BBC America has released the first look at what to expect in its second series.

The photos tease the fallout of the big cliffhanger that ended its first run, and indicates that the story of Sandra Oh’s MI5 officer Eve and psychopathic killer Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is far from over.

Cat-and-mouse drama Killing Eve, co-written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), has proved one of the year’s most acclaimed new TV shows.

The new pictures show Comer clutching her blood-covered stomach in a scene that seemingly takes place after the finale of the first series, where Eve stabbed Villanelle in a dramatic showdown.

Another image shows her covering the injury with a large coat.

One picture shows Oh joined by Fiona Shaw, who is also returning for the second series as Carolyn Martens, the head of the Russia Section at MI6 and Eve’s boss.

Earlier in December, Comer confirmed filming had finished on the second series after six months.

The show has been nominated for best television drama at the Golden Globes. It was recently revealed that Killing Eve is the second-biggest boxset ever to air on BBC iPlayer, with more than 40 million requests since it arrived on the streaming service.

Killing Eve season two is expected to air in spring 2019.
