Killing Eve's Jodie Comer 'more confident in scenes where she doesn't have to glam up'

Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer has revealed that she feels more confident on screen when she has no make-up on.

In an interview Jodie, who plays assassin Villanelle, told how she feels more empowered in scenes when she 'has a bruise on her face'.

But when asked to glam-up and play a sexy or attractive character she says she feels "self-conscious".

Jodie told Allure Magazine: "It’s like the moment you have to be sexy or attractive on screen, I become so self-conscious.

"Whereas if I’ve got no makeup on and I’ve got a bruise on my face, I’m like, 'Let’s go.' You know? But that’s just me."

Ahead of the premiere of the new series Jodie revealed that the show would be exploring her character's past more than ever.

She told British Vogue: "The audience love what they love about her, but it’s been nice to show a different side to that. Maybe a little bit of vulnerability."

The new series, which will air from April 12, looks set to continue on from the shocking  season 2 finale which saw Eve shot by Villanelle and left for dead in Rome.

Other characters due to return in the new episodes include Villanelle's mentor and enemy Konstantin Vasiliev (Kim Bodnia) and pragmatic MI6 big wig Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw).

Meanwhile, the book series by author Luke Jennings that the show is based on  will conclude with the third and final novel, Endgame.

The synopsis reads: "As Villanelle returns to face her childhood demons and the Russian winter, Eve finds herself on the run from The Twelve, who want her dead. As the action moves between London and St Petersburg, and Eve and Villanelle finally admit their mutual erotic obsession, the chess game approaches its lethal, unforgettable conclusion."
