Killing Eve's Jodie Comer crushed as Ellen DeGeneres awkwardly slams her acting

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer looked crushed during an awkward interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

The Liverpudlian actress, 26, was left red-faced when the American chat show host accidentally criticised her acting skills.

Ellen, 61, admitted she was warned by Jodie's Killing Eve co-star Sandra Oh about her strong Scouse accent.

During an opening discussion about her role in BBC drama Doctor Foster, Ellen made a massive blunder while discussing the accent Jodie was using.

Talking about Jodie's Scouse accent, the host confessed: "I am so shocked to hear that. Doctor Foster you had an American accent."

Confused Jodie had to awkwardly explain that her character was British, before joking: "I didn't do a good job there."

Embarrassed Ellen quickly tried to move the conversation on and mentioned she used a Russian accent in Killing Eve.

On playing assassin Villanelle, she said: "I had to view Villanelle as an actress in many ways. She puts on these personas. It's all a ploy to trap her victims.

"It's a wonderful aspect of playing her. It's a lot of fun."

Jodie revealed to Ellen that sometimes she gets a little too lost in her character.

She explained that during a scene in which she was eating, she accidentally choked on pasta, which her scene partner interpreted as a "weird acting choice."

The Ellen Show viewers voiced their anger after watching the awkward interview.

One viewer said: "I am sorry Jodie Comer sweety this was an awkward interview and I blame Ellen 100%"

"I love how Ellen couldn’t handle British sarcasm and humor," added another.

A third said: "Great interview by the phenomenal Jodie Comer despite being asked boring questions and having to deal with a lame crowd"

BBC America announced last night that Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer will return for series 3, despite the second season not being available to watch in the UK yet.

According to the BBC, it's "unlikely" to premiere before early June, which is when American viewers will have been given the chance to watch the entire season.

A BBC spokesperson said: "The show was commissioned by BBC America and so they have the rights to show it first. BBC public service in the UK has acquired the UK rights to the show."
