Killing Eve: BBC show starring Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh 'could run for years', producers say

Producers on Killing Eve say the show could potentially “run for years”.

Series two of the drama is set to finally resolve the major cliffhanger that ended the first series, continuing the story between Sandra Oh’s MI5 officer Eve and psychopathic killer Villanelle (Jodie Comer).

Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris told the Daily Star that they have plenty of ideas on how to “refresh” the show down the line.

Gentle said: “If you made it up in the first place, you can make it up again. So I think it can go on, and on, and on – you just have to refresh it all the time.”

The first season, co-written and executive produced by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, was widely praised by critics when it aired last year.

It became the second-biggest boxset to air on BBC iPlayer, with more than 40 million requests since it arrived on the streaming service.

Comer added that she’s keen to see how Villanelle can “grow” in future episodes, adding: “What I love about Villanelle is that she is many characters within one, and she has enabled me to hopefully show some versatility that people may not have expected from me.”

Killing Eve season two will premiere on BBC America on 7 April at 8pm.
