Killie 'ineligible player' hands Premier Sports Cup win to East Kilbride

East Kilbride have been handed three points and a 3-0 win over Kilmarnock, after the Ayrshire club fielded an ineligible player in their 2-0 win at K-Park on Saturday.

Daniel Armstrong was used as a substitute in the Championship club's win, but was serving a one-match suspension.

At today's SPFL tribunal over the incident, Kilmarnock were also been fined £5000, suspended until June 30, 2022, as a result of what they say was an "inadvertent" breach.

Armstrong was making his Kilmarnock debut, having replaced veteran Chris Burke in 72 minutes.

A statement issued by Kilmarnock read: "The club would like to apologise to our supporters, East Kilbride and the footballing authorities."
