Detectives probing the murder of a dad gunned down as he left a Liverpool gym are appealing for help tracing his killer.
Thomas 'Tommy' Baker was shot in the head and chest by a gunman who had been lying in wait for the 44-year-old.
No-one has been charged in connection with the attack, three years ago today.
Mr Baker, from Everton, had been at the Phoenix gym in the Stanley Meat Market complex off Prescot Road on the morning of January 27, 2017.
He was shot as he returned to his car, shortly after 8.10am.
Police believe the gunman was lying in wait, possibly in a car parked next to Mr Baker’s black BMW.
The killer is thought to have fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen Polo that turned right onto Prescot Road, heading towards Liverpool city centre.
The attack on the dad-of-two, who was previously known to police, was thought to have been targeted.
Five people have been questioned in connection with the murder probe that followed.
Merseyside Police said enquiries were continuing.
In a statement released on Monday, Detective Superintendent Richie Salter said: “It has been three years since Thomas Baker was shot in broad daylight and his family have not received any justice.
“We know over time that loyalties and allegiances change and I would appeal to anyone who knows who was responsible for the shooting to get in touch so that we can take action.
“Firearms have no place on the streets of Merseyside and the person or people responsible deserve to be behind bars. We need the community or those who are shielding the killer to come forward and do the right thing.
“I would also appeal to anyone who has any knowledge of a silver VW Polo which was seen outside the gym on the morning of Mr Baker’s death to come forward.
"It is believed the gunman was driving the car, which after leaving the gym car park turned right onto Prescot Road in the direction of Liverpool city centre.
"I want anyone who saw anything or has information about this case to ring us or call Crimestoppers anonymously. It is vital that we receive information from our communities to tackle gun crime and get these weapons off our streets."
