Killer Rose West complains of being kept awake in West Yorkshire prison

Britain's most notorious female prisoner Rose West is complaining of 'sleepless nights' at her new jail in West Yorkshire.

West, who murdered several girls and young women with her husband Fred, says 'screaming' inmates and staff pacing up and down her wing are keeping her awake at night.

"It’s bedlam on the unit at night", a source told The Daily Star.

It is reported West, 65, is on the Rivendell wing, at HMP New Hall, between Huddersfield and Wakefield. The wing houses inmates at risk of self-harm and suicide away from the general prison population.

Although West has her own cell she is not getting much peace at night after her transfer to New Hall from maximum security Low Newton Prison, near Durham.

"Officers who do a week of nights are shattered when they come off the rota. The place is a madhouse and the noise from the women is horrendous", a source told The Daily Star.

"West has moaned to fellow inmates that she is turning in with a pillow over her head to try and escape the racket but she still can’t get any shut eye."

West, whose sexually motivated murders shocked the nation, is reported to be a keen baker and the specialist unit has its own private kitchen for convicts to use and flowerbeds and vegetable patches outside.

The overweight whole life prisoner has complained of struggling with stairs and her eyesight is said to be failing.

Serial killer Joanna Dennehy (Cambridgeshire Police/PA Wire)

Fellow inmates were told to 'be nice' to West when she was transferred from Low Newton.

It is reported that West was moved after triple murderer Joanna Dennehy threatened to kill West.

It is claimed Dennehy, who enjoyed stabbing three men to death during a murdering spree in March 2013, said: "Send me there and I’ll f***ing kill Rose West", upon learning she was to be transferred to Low Newton.

Dennehy, who like West will die in prison, is believed to have arrived at Low Newton on the same day as West's transfer.

The double transfer was carried out amid high security because prison bosses did not want them in the same jail.
