Killer mosquitoes heading to Britain, warn global warming scientists

Deadly disease-carrying mosquitoes will swarm over the UK in a decade because of global warming, scientists have warned.

Summer months will see the arrival of the insects, which spread illnesses such as the Zika virus and dengue fever. Outbreaks common in Africa and Asia will happen here as Britain gets warmer and wetter.

Dr Sadie Ryan, of Florida University, said: “The risk of disease transmission is a serious problem.

“Places like Europe and North America that used to be too cold for the viruses will face new diseases like dengue.”

A recent UN report said the planet is experiencing floods, storms and heatwaves due to climate change.
