Run the Jewels’ Killer Mike has continued his support for Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders by releasing a series of video interviews on YouTube.
In November, the rapper introduced Sanders on to the stage in Atlanta in front of 5,000 people, saying: “I don’t trust the church or the government, a Democrat, Republican, a pope, a bishop or those other men. But after spending five hours tonight with someone who has spent the last 50 years radically fighting for your rights and mine, I can tell you that I am very proud tonight to announce the next president of the United States, Senator Bernie Sanders.”
Now, a six-part series of their conversations has been posted on YouTube, in which the pair discuss everything from capitalism to gun ownership. Taking place at Mike’s Atlanta barbershop, SWAG, they also touched on voter ID and drug laws.
It’s believed the exchanges could help Sanders build support among black voters, who he’s struggled to win over in his bid for the Democratic nomination. The early primary state poll in South Carolina found that 80% of Democrats supported rival Hillary Clinton.
